How to Display Content

image The NTB controls a display device (e.g. Plasma, LCD panel or projector) and you control the NTB through a web-browser.

File-based content (e.g video) is uploaded from your PC onto the hard-drive in the NTB. Under most applications there is NO STREAMING involved. Once files have been stored on the NTB, they can be playlisted via the web-browser.

image   Content that has been playlisted on the NTB will be shown on the display device, not the web-browser on your PC monitor.

There are five ways of viewing content that is on the NTB:

  1. Watch the active Layout on the display device.
  2. Audition Layouts, playlists or individual items on the display device.
  3. Grab a snapshot the display device and view it in the web-browser.
  4. Preview an item in the web-browser, the display device will be blanked.
  5. View individual content files in your web-browser.

How to Watch the Active Layout on the Display Device

  1. Browse to 'Schedule'.
  2. Click 'Activate' button.

How to Audition an Item on the Display Device

  1. Browse to 'Layouts'.
  2. Click the 'Audition' (green rectangle in yellow rectangle) button alongside the particular Layout.
  3. OR click on a Zone in the Layout and then click the audition button for 'Zone:'.
  4. OR click on a Zone and then the audition button alongside the item in the Playlist (yellow shaded) tab.

How to Grab Screen Snapshots

  1. Browse on 'Player Status | Screen Snap Shot'.
  2. The image will appear within a few seconds. Note, however, that videos appear as a black rectangle.
  3. Click the 'Refresh..' tick box and press the F5 key to get the page to auto-refresh.

How to Preview

  1. Browse to "Options" and set "Audition Method" to "Web Preview"
  2. Browse to 'Layouts'.
  3. Click the 'Preview' (green and yellow camera) button alongside a Layout or playlisted item.
  4. The Display Device will go black momentarilly while a sceen snapshot is generated.
  5. The snapshot will appear in the browser and the video on the Display Device will revert to what it was before the preview.

How to View Content in Your Web-Browser

  1. Log into the Net-Top-Box as an administrator (e.g. user 'remote:9999').
  2. Click on 'Files and Folders'.
  3. Navigate through the folders in the Folder (blue shaded) tab and then click on the file name in the Files (green shaded) tab.
  4. The file will be shown in your web-browser. Note that videos may take a long time to download and that the media player on your PC may not have suitable code to play the particular media format (Windows Media Player, for example, does not always play MPEG-2 videos.)
