Update to Version 5.0.0 Software
-
If you have not registered your e-mail address or do not have the update user name and password that we e-mailed to you then
register your e-mail address.
-
Read the notes on V5 for V4 users to familiarise yourself with V5 before updating to it.
-
Note that a Version 5 Net-Top-Box will not be able to subscribe to any Channels published by a Version 4 unit.
Plan ahead to update the publisher first, re-publish the Channel (perhaps in a different place), and then update all
the subscribers so that they can download and show the new Channel in good time.
-
Download the V5.0.0 update file.
You will need the user name and password that we e-mailed to you.
-
Click the appropriate button to save the file to your computer and the download will begin.
-
The download will take several minutes on broadband connections. Typical file size is about 200MiB.
The file will appear on your computer once the download is complete.
-
Try the download again.
If you are asked to overwrite the file but the size and date is identical then click "Cancel" because
the file is fully downloaded.
-
If using Internet Explorer then check that it did not rename the file, if it ends in ".tar" then change it to ".opf".
-
Browse to the "Setup | Software Update" page on the Net-Top-Box.
-
Click the "Browse..." button and locate the OPF file that you have just downloaded.
-
Click the "Upload" button and wait for the file to upload to the Net-Top-Box.
-
Do not browse away from the page during the upload. Be patient if the browser appears to freeze at the end of the upload.
-
When the upload is complete, do NOT pull the power cable out or turn off the electricity until the update process is complete.
-
Click the "Reboot" link to restart the Net-Top-Box, this may take up to 20 minutes.
-
After the Net-Top-Box has rebooted it will be running version 5.0.0.
If the Home page appears jumbled then refresh your browser (press F5 key).
-
Now Update to the latest Version 5 software.
